The Minnesota Symphonic Winds returns to Central Lutheran Church to help celebrate the renovation of this wonderful sanctuary and addition, while presenting repertoire centering on the themes of peace and justice.  Works to be featured include Gould’s Fanfare for Freedom, Mackey’s Sheltering Sky, Curnow’s Canticle of the Creatures, King’s Peacemaker March (conducted by associate conductor Paul Kile), Giroux’s Hymn for the Innocent, and Holsinger’s On a Hymnsong of Philip Bliss.  Trumpeter Garrett Klein of the Dallas Brass will share Ewazen’s moving Recuerdas from Danzante, and a new work by conductor Timothy Mahr, Imagining Peace will be premiered, featuring Pastors Chris Bellefeuille and Rob Lubben as narrators, sharing inspired words from throughout time on the title’s theme.

The Minnesota Symphonic Winds, in a concert acknowledging its 40th season, supports Central Lutheran Church’s ‘Empowering Conversations – About Peace with Justice’ with a program challenging us all to imagine and to take action. The concert will feature Garrett Klein, trumpet, on Ewazen’s “Recuerdas from Danzante”, and Pastors Chris Bellefeuille and Rob Lubben, narrators, on the premiere of Mahr’s “Imagining Peace.”

The concert is free.  An offering will be taken for one or more Twin Cities Peace with Justice organizations.
