Deepening Roots, Strengthening Families

“My son, keep your father’s commands and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
Bind them always on your heart; fasten them around your neck.
When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you;
when you awake, they will speak to you.” – Proverbs 6:20-22

Thanks to a generous grant from the Lilly Endowment’s “Christian Parenting and Caretaking Initiative,” the Family Faith Learning Community of the Minneapolis Area Synod is dedicated to supporting parents and caregivers to share their faith and culture with their children in meaningful ways. As our communities grow and evolve in diversity, we see the blending of traditions and the shifting of values through generations. Together, we walk alongside families to explore and discover culturally relevant ways to deepen connections—with each other, with their communities, and with God.

Family Faith is committed to the idea that families, with all their particularities are central to the formation of the Christian faith. For the ethnic-specific, culturally-specific, and multi-cultural churches in our Synod there are unique challenges and gifts that contribute to parents’ ability to share their faith at home. The learning community brings parents and caretakers together to support one another, to develop new skills, share and develop resources that are culturally relevant, and build community.

Programming for Family Faith will launch in the Fall of 2025, including cohort meetings, resource development, and opportunities for families to connect at church camps.
