Position title: CYF Director

Organization: Alleluia Lutheran Church, St. Michael

Brief position description:

Alleluia Lutheran is seeking a theologically sound, Lutheran faith-based individual for the position of Director of Children, Youth and Families (CYF) program at Alleluia Lutheran Church in St. Michael, MN. This is a twelve month, flexible, part-time position for approximately 20 hours per week.
Position Overview

The Director of CYF will be responsible for supporting and growing a Lutheran faith-based program for children, youth and families to explore their faith through creative learning, and collaborating, and participating in meaningful opportunities of service and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Growing and strengthening the children, youth and families programs at all levels. Leading youth and families with teachings through biblical stories and experiences that promote spiritual growth and intergenerational fellowship
  • Sharing your love for Christ with others and mentoring youth throughout their spiritual journey to explore their faith
  • Communicating creatively in new and relevant ways with all youth, parents, and mentors
  • Connecting with others through community engagement and youth involved service opportunities

Resourcefulness

  • Build relationships with the Alleluia congregation, community resources, and fellow church leaders to enrich the children, youth and family programs
  • Encourage mentors and leaders to share their faith with the youth within the church and community-based opportunities
  • Develop authentic connections with youth and be a welcoming presence where the youth see you as a trusted mentor and life experience resource

Social media

  • Strengthen and enrich the social media presence
  • Strive to increase communication and raise visibility of the youth activities within the congregation and the community

Administration

  • Uphold safe church practices and policies
  • Serve as a contributing staff member in supporting the ministry
  • Continue to grow technology skills using MS Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher) and Google Drive apps
  • Other duties as required to support the church ministry.

Requirements

  • Understanding of ELCA theology
  • Commitment to developing solid relationships
  • Effective communication skills
  • Comfortable with technology and social media
  • Organized, resourceful, and collaborative
  • No degree required, but youth group ministry experience is strongly desired
